Objectives
Course Introduction
The course aims at providing students with Biology related learning experience for cultivating students’ interests in Biology and Science. It allows students to go further or be prepared for life-science related studies or career. Students can hence devote into the ever-changing knowledgeable society., and become a lifelong learner of science and technology.
Moreover, students can train and develop their scientific mind, critical thinking ability, creativity and independent thinking ability. Students can ultimately make wise decision and judgement on Biology related issues, and hence cultivated with a responsible attitude as a citizen to promote a healthy life on personal and community level.
Teaching Objectives
1. Enable students to appreciate the amazing biological world and respect all creatures.
2. Cultivate students’ interest in Biology and practice a healthy lifestyle.
3. Students can understand and acquire the knowledge and concepts of Biology and recognize the relationship between Biology and other subjects.
4. Enable students to apply the acquire Biology knowledge to deal with the daily life issues and communicate with others in scientific ways.
5. Train students to search, collect and organize information from different sources, and to express the information clearly and logically.
6. Cultivate students' critical mind, logical thinking, analysis and problem-solving skills, so as to make wise judgments and choices.
7. Cultivate students' spirit of inquiry and exploration of science and make students aware of the methods of exploring scientific knowledge.
8. Enable students to master the skills and techniques in common operation and experiment.
9. Enable students to take necessary precautions in both laboratory experiment and field experience.
10. Raise students’ awareness on environmental issues and take responsibility for cherishing and protecting the environment.
11. Raise students’ awareness on controversial Biology issues related to individuals, society, ethics, economy, environment and technology, and actively discuss the above issues.
